Well, it’s that time of the year! The Mid-Summer Classic will take place tonight at 8 p.m. in Miami, with the National League squaring off against the American League.
Since the “This Time It Counts” initiative put forth in 2004, 10 of 13 teams with home field advantage have won the World Series.
For the first time in 13 years, the game will be played for nothing but league bragging rights.
Max Scherzer of the Washington Nationals (10-5 with a 2.10 ERA, 173 strikeouts) will get the ball for the NL and will be opposed by Boston Red Sox ace Chris Sale (11-4 with a 2.75 ERA, 178 strikeouts).
The Mets lone All-Star, Michael Conforto, will be a reserve for the National League.
