Bartolo Colon has spurned the Mets and signed a minor league deal with the Minnesota Twins.

Colon, 44, cleared waivers as expected on Thursday and was released by the Atlanta Braves who are on the hook for the $12.5 million they signed him for this offseason minus the prorated league minimum.

It was widely reported that the Mets had interest in signing Colon despite his rough season.

Colon was 2-8 with a 8.14 ERA, 1.778 WHIP and 5.07 FIP in 13 starts spanning 63 innings this year.

Said Sandy Alderson on the news that Colon had decided on the Twins:  “We made a strong effort to re-sign Bartolo. But he decided to go elsewhere.”
