Mets RHP Jacob deGrom has both pitched and hit his way to NL Player of the Week honors after his two dominant starts. Indians third baseman Jose Ramirez (.516/.545/1.065) earned the AL honors.
His last start against the Nationals was particularly impressive, allowing only one unearned run on three hits in 8.0 innings. He walked two and struck out six.
His prior start against the Cubs was a complete game effort in which he allowed one earned run on five hits and four walks, striking out six.
All-in-all, deGrom pitched 17.0 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on eight hits and six walks, striking out 12 and earning the win in both games. Add in the home run he hit off Nationals pitcher Joe Ross and he absolutely earned the National League Player of the Week honors.
