The Mets were defeated by the San Francisco Giants by a score of 10-7 tonight at AT&T Park.
Pitching:
Jacob deGrom toed the rubber for the Mets this evening in San Francisco, and unfortunately, had one of the worst outings of his career, surrendering eight runs on an alarming thirteen hits in five innings pitched.
The Mets staked deGrom to a four run lead, but the righty quickly gave the Giants the lead right back. Hunter Pence drove in a run with a single and Eduardo Nunez drove in a pair with a two-run triple.
The big blow came when Madison Bumgarner launched a two-run shot to cap off a five run inning in the fourth for the Giants.
Jerry Blevins pitched 1.1 innings, and kept the Giants in check, but Hansel Robles pitched an inning and allowed two runs to make it a 10-7 game.
Josh Edgin and Addison Reed then combined to pitch 0.2 innings to get out of the inning.

Offense:
The big blow of this game came in the fourth inning when Justin Ruggiano gave the Mets an early 4-0 lead with a grand slam.
Unfortunately the Giants answered back with a five run inning, to change the tides yet again.
Ty Kelly hit a two-run triple in the sixth inning to cut the Giants lead at the time to 8-6 lead, and Rene Rivera trimmed it even closer with an RBI single, but the Giants expanded the lead to 10-7 later in the game.
Unfortunately the seven spot the Mets put up wouldn’t be enough, as the Giants scored 10 to win the ball game.
On deck:
Steven Matz (9-8, 3.40 ERA) takes on Johnny Cueto (13-3, 2.97 ERA) tomorrow night at 10:15 PM at AT&T Park.
