Citi Field will host its first postseason game tonight when the New York Mets host the Los Angeles Dodgers for Game 3 of the National League Division Series.
LHP Brett Anderson (10-9, 3.69) LHP Brett Anderson (10-9, 3.69) vs. RHP Matt Harvey (13-8, 2.71) goes for the Dodgers and making his MLB Postseason debut is RHP Matt Harvey (13-8, 2.71) for the Mets.
The Mets had their seven-game NLDS winning streak snapped in Game 2. The streak was tied for the second-longest in Division Series history. The loss also ended New York’s four-game winning streak vs. the Dodgers in NLDS play.
The Mets have won all three National League Division Series they’ve played (2006 vs. Los Angeles, 2000 vs. San Francisco and 1999 vs. Arizona).
Michael Conforto became the second Met in team history to hit a home run in his first postseason at-bat in Game 2 at Los Angeles when he took Zack Greinke deep. Edgardo Alfonzo hit a solo home run off Arizona’s Randy Johnson in the 1999 NLDS (Game 1).
The Mets pitching staff has racked up 25 strikeouts in the first two games of this series. The 25 strikeouts are the most in consecutive nine-inning postseason games in team history.

The series comes back to New York tonight! Like every other Mets fan, I’m incredibly curious as to how the Mets come out tonight in response to Chase Utley literally breaking a member of the team. The league has already suspended Utley for two games, but he’s going to appeal meaning that (at least while I’m writing this at 8:30 in the morning) that Utley can still play games with the Mets by playing Utley.
Anyway, the real focus on the game will be Matt Harvey. Harvey was 13-8 in the regular season over 29 starts and 189.1 innings with a 2.71 ERA and 188 K’s. In his last three starts of the season he tossed 17.2 innings, 3 runs, 2 earned while striking out 24 batters. In two starts against the Dodgers this year he allowed 5 ER over 12.0 innings while striking out 13. The Dodgers have the following numbers against Harvey:
- Rollins 5-19, 2 2B, 2 HR
- Utley 6-18, 2B, HR
- Gonzalez 3-11, HR
- Ethier 2-8
- Crawford 1-5
- Grandal 1-5
- Pederson 2-5, HR
- Puig 3-5,2B
The Mets draw Brett Anderson who is 10-9 over 31 games with a 3.69 ERA and 180.1 innings. His last start was a good bounce back one where he allowed 2 ER over 7.2 innings. Before that start he allowed 11 ER over 8.2 innings in his previous two starts. He missed the Mets completely twice in July and although he’s been in the league since 2009 he’s never faced the Mets (which make sense because he was with Oakland from ’09 to ’13). Only three Mets have seen him in a major league game:
- Granderson 5-12, HR
- Cuddyer 1-12
- K Johnson 0-1
Let’s Go Mets!
