Albert Cordero was up in the bottom of the 9th with the winning run on first base but grounded out to second base to end the game and the B’Mets chance at the best record in the Eastern League. Rainy Lara struggled lasting only four innings giving up four runs on nine hits and struck out six.

Brock Peterson led the way offensively for Binghamton with three hits including his 13th double and his 40th run batted in. The Mets trailed 5-1 going into the 8th inning before they scored two and then two more in the 9th to tie the game up. David Roseboom came into pitch the bottom of the 9th inning and gave up a walk-off single to the 3rd batter he faced.

Erik Goeddel made his 2nd rehab appearance pitching one inning, he walked the first two batters before a sac bunt and sac fly scored a run to make it 5-1. He got the last batter he faced to strike out swinging with a runner on 3rd base. Lefty Kelly Secrest pitched two scoreless innings of relief giving up one hit and striking out three. He now has 10.2 straight scoreless innings with eleven strikeouts.

Matt Oberste had the big hit of the night tying the game in the 9th with a two-run homerun, his 6th of the season. During his current 6-game hitting streak Matt is 11-21 with seven runs scored, two homeruns, and eleven RBI. Jeff McNeil was 3-5 with his 15th double and two runs scored as he lifted his FSL leading average to .318 for the season.

Maikis De La Cruz went 2-3 with two walks, two RBI, and his 6th outfield assist of the year. Victor Cruzado was 2-3 with two walks, two runs scored, and his 5th triple. Andrew Church pitched a season high 6.1 innings giving up two runs on six hits and two walks, he struck out two and lowered his ERA to 5.18 for the year. Carlos Valdez and Ruben Reyes combined to throw 1.2 perfect innings out of the bullpen with Reyes striking out the side in the 8th inning.

The Cyclones offense managed only four singles on the night with Vinny Siena, Jeffrey Diehl, Hengelbert Rojas, and Jose Garcia having one each. Garcia also walked and knocked in the only Brooklyn run of the night, he is 11-25 over his last eight games. Box Score

GCL Mets (22-17) 3 GCL Cardinals 2 Game One Walk-Off

Rafael Montero made his first appearance since July 20th pitching two scoreless innings allowing one baserunner (single) and striking out one. Franklin Correa ended the game in the bottom of the 9th with a single that scored Desmond Lindsay to win in walk-off fashion.

Lindsay was 1-3 while leading off the 9th with his first professional triple, through 7 games he is hitting .381/.500/.571 in 21 at bats. Las Vegas outfielder Kyle Johnson also made a rehab appearance going 1-3 while playing right field. Ali Sanchez was 2-4 his 14th RBI and was 1-2 in throwing out guys trying to steal.
