METS WIN SIXTH GAME IN A ROW!
The Mets (58-50) defeated the Miami Marlins (43-65) by a score of 8-6 tonight at Marlins Park, and earned the series sweep despite a late Marlins come back.
Matt Harvey got the start for the Metropolitan’s tonight, and was fantastic, as he tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and striking out six hitters. The ace improves to 10-7 on the season, and lowers his ERA to 2.76.
The Mets opened up the scoring in the third inning, as Curtis Granderson singled and Daniel Murphy walked to start the frame against Marlins’ starter David Phelps.
Yoenis Cespedes then drove in his 66th run of the year on a line drive single up the middle, which was followed by a long double from the red hot Lucas Duda which plated two.
The Mets scored their fourth run of the inning on a sacrifice fly from Michael Conforto two batters later.

JUAN URIBE GOES DEEP!
In the fifth inning, Daniel Murphy doubled to lead off the inning, and Lucas Duda walked. The Mets then busted the game wide open as Juan Uribe hit a three-run shot to left center field to give the Mets a 7-0 lead. Talk about run support for Matt Harvey!
Bobby Parnell came on to pitch the eighth inning in relief of Matt Harvey, and got the first two outs of the inning, before turning the ball over to the newest Met, Eric O’Flaherty, who stranded runners at second and third by getting the final out of the inning.
In the ninth inning, Lucas Duda drove in his third run of the night on a sacrifice fly to center field to score Curtis Granderson.
The aforementioned O’Flaherty came back out for the ninth inning, and didn’t fare very well, as he yielded two runs on four hits before being pulled in favor of Hansel Robles. I’ll give O’Flaherty a pass for this outing, as he’s had a crazy 24 hours and arrived shortly before game time today. Let’s not make it a habit, though.
Robles was unable to finish off the game, as he let three more runs to score after Miguel Rojas cleared the bases with a double.
Jeurys Familia then came in to get the final out, and was a bit shaky as he allowed the sixth Marlins run of the inning to score, but was finally able to stop the bleeding as he got Christian Yelich to ground out, and earned his 29th save of the year.
On deck:
