It is a little early in the season for this but I thought it would be fun to look at some of the Mets affiliates batting leaders to get an idea of how some of our prospects are doing.
Keep in mind that many of these are small sample sizes (under 100 at bats) and that the offensive categories will be dominated by Vegas for the most part.
To put the Las Vegas/Savannah dynamics into perspective there are 39 hitters in the Pacific Coast League hitting over .300 while only 21 hitters are doing the same in the South Atlantic League.
I have left Dilson Herrera (.370/.402/.506) off because he should be in the Majors for an extended period of time and Johnny Monell (.397/.455/..638) does not have enough AB’s to qualify.
Also to give you a better idea of how to compare the leagues here are the slash lines for each team compared to the league average:
- Las Vegas: .308/.379/.503 compared to the PCL average: .268/.337/.409
- Binghamton: .267/.319/.393 compared to the Eastern League average: .255/.325/.369
- St. Lucie: .247/.308/.352 compared to the Florida State League average: .247/.317/.341
