After last nights victory over the Reds, the Mets recalled Rafael Montero from AAA Las Vegas. Montero pitched in the opening game of the Pacific Coast League playoffs on Wednesday, where he was ineffective. He went just 4 1/3, allowing 3 runs, 4 walks and 7 hits. According to Adam Rubin of ESPN, Mets officials say there is no injury to a current member of the rotation.
Terry Collins had previously noted that Montero would likely get at least 1 start in September but that the Mets won’t go to a formal 6-man rotation.
