noah SyndergaardLast night both the Las Vegas 51’s and the Binghamton Mets fell and are now on the verge of elimination from the minor league playoffs.

With Noah Syndergaard on the hill for the 51’s, the team dropped the third game of the series. They are now down 2-1 in the series with game 4 coming up tonight. Syndergaard was highly ineffective. He lasted only 4 innings, giving up 6 runs on 6 hits while walking 3 and striking out 3. It was a night to forget for the Mets top prospect.

What’s ironic about the series has been the lack of quality pitching they’ve gotten. Rafael Montero was roughed up in game 1 and Matthew Bowman lasted just 4 innings on Thursday. He also gave up 6 earned runs. Tonight, the 51’s will send Logan Verrett to the hill to oppose the Aces Charles Brewer.

Binghamton also fell on Friday night and are now down in the series 2-1. Lefty Steven Matz did not have a great start, giving up 3 runs in 5 innings. He did strike out 5 in the game but the offense could not pick up the slack. Brandon Nimmo doubled out of the leadoff spot in the loss. It was one of only 4 hits for the Mets.

The B-Mets will send Rainy Lara to the hill this afternoon hoping to even the series at 2-games a piece and giving Gabriel Ynoa a chance to win the series against the Sea Dogs.

Both minor league teams thrived in the regular season but the organizations top pitching prospects haven’t come through the clutch. It will be up to the offense of both teams to pick things up as both teams try to survive the weekend.
