Ruben Tejada extended his career-best hitting streak to 12 games last night, going 1-5. Tejada is batting .364 (20-55) with four runs scored and two RBI during this current stretch.
The Mets shortstop is hitting .331 (55-166) with a .367 on-base percentage since he returned from the Disabled List on June 24.
Tejada’s .322 batting average is the highest among all major league shortstops (min. 260 at-bats). Arizona’s Willie Bloomquist is second (.308).
Tejada also has the highest on-base percentage (.366), percentage points ahead of Texas’ Elvis Andrus.
