The Mets (90-72) wrapped up their season with a 1-0 victory over the Washington Nationals (83-79) this afternoon at Citi Field.
Pitching:
Jacob deGrom got the nod for the Mets for the regular season finale this afternoon, but after Terry Collins announced deGrom as the starter for game one of the NLDS, he had an 80 pitch limit today.
DeGrom only went four innings, but was able to strike out seven, allowed two walks and allowed no hits.
Bartolo Colon and Logan Verrett kept the no-hitter in tact through the fifth and sixth respectively, before Jon Niese allowed the first Nationals hit with two outs in the seventh.
Addison Reed got the final out in the seventh by blowing away Ian Desmond on three pitches, which was followed up by a clean eighth from Tyler Clippard.
Jeurys Familia came on to pitch the ninth inning, and despite allowing a double to Bryce Harper, was able to get Jayson Werth to fly out to end the game and the Nationals season.

Offense:
The Mets offense has struggled mightily the last week or so. Until the eighth inning today, the Mets hadn’t scored a run in eighteen innings, and had only scored one in forty-two innings.
With the Mets’ pitching holding up its end of the bargain this afternoon, Curtis Granderson‘s 26th home run of the year, a solo shot in the eighth inning would prove to be enough to boost the Mets to victory today.
The offense or lack thereof recently is obviously concerning, but with the Mets having clinched a postseason spot and the B-squad getting a majority of the playing time the last several days, I think we will be okay.
Our key players will have time to rest and will be ready for the task at hand for the division series. Not to worry Mets fans.
On deck:
The next time you see these Mets, it will be in postseason fashion! Jacob deGrom (14-8, 2.54) will get the ball for game one, and will face off against either Clayton Kershaw or Zack Greinke at Chavez Ravine Friday night.
