The MLB All-Star Game between the National League and the American League is Tuesday evening.

From the Mets side of things, Pete Alonso and Kodai Senga are All-Stars, but it’ll be tough to see either get significant playing time—at least until the final innings. Senga was a last-minute replacement for Marcus Stroman, and Alonso is blocked at first base by Freddie Freeman and Matt Olson. Alonso could take some at-bats at designated hitter.

Let’s get into the lineups, and chat away below!

National League All-Stars

  1. Ronald Acuña Jr. – RF
  2. Freddie Freeman – 1B
  3. Mookie Betts – CF
  4. J.D. Martinez – DH
  5. Nolan Arenado – 3B
  6. Luis Arraez – 2B
  7. Sean Murphy – C
  8. Corbin Carroll – LF
  9. Orlando Arcia – SS

The above lineup will start facing Gerrit Cole, who is 9-2 with a 2.85 ERA this season. Other highlights on the pitching side for the AL include Luis Castillo, Kevin Gausman, Nathan Eovaldi, and relievers Kenley Jansen and Yennier Cano. Ohtani was voted in as a starter, too, but it’s less likely that he will pitch this time around.

The NL has far and away the superior lineup this year. Reserve include the likes of Pete Alonso, Juan Soto, Matt Olson, Will Smith, Austin Riley, Jorge Soler, and more. Will they finally be able to snap the National League’s nine-game losing streak to the AL?

American League All-Stars

  1. Marcus Semien – 2B
  2. Shohei Ohtani – DH
  3. Randy Arozarena – LF
  4. Corey Seager – SS
  5. Yandy Diaz – 1B
  6. Adolis Garcia – RF
  7. Austin Hays – CF
  8. Josh Jung – 3B
  9. Jonah Heim – C

The NL will face off against the Diamondbacks’ ace Zac Gallen, who has pitched to a 3.04 ERA this year with an 11-3 record. Behind him includes a slightly weaker group of starters than the AL. Corbin Burnes, Alex Cobb and Kodai Senga were all named as replacements, and they’ll join Josiah Gray, Mutch Keller, and Justin Steele as starters. The NL really stands out with its bullpen pieces, including Alexis Díaz, Josh Hader, and David Bednar.

The AL’s starting lineup is highlighted by Ohtani in the two-hole, but he’s surrounded by five Texas Rangers—the best offensive team in the AL. The bench might be better: Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Adley Rutschman, Wander Franco, José Ramirez, Luis Robert Jr., Julio Rodriguez, Kyle Tucker, and other will make their way into the game.

Game Notes

The American League has won the last nine All-Star Games, and they’ve won an astonishing 24 of the last 28. (The NL won three and there was a tie in 2002.)

The Braves have the most All-Stars with eight, and the Rangers are second with six.

Clayton Kershaw earned his 10th All-Star selection, which is tied for the most in Dodgers history with Pee Wee Reese. Freddie Freeman will be the third Dodgers first baseman to start an All-Star Game, joining Steve Garvey and Gil Hodges.
