Arizona Fall League (AFL)

Salt River Rafters 8 – 3 Surprise Saguaros
Peoria Javelinas 3 – 1 Glendale Desert Dogs
Mesa Solar Sox 1 – 1 Scottsdale Scorpions

With the Arizona Fall League All-Star Game scheduled for Saturday (today), teams only played seven inning games today with no extra innings. This resulted in a 1-1 tie as the Scorpions offense continued it’s week long struggles. Alonso, much like the rest of the team, has fallen into a slump of his own with only one base hit in the last twenty-one at-bats. The slump has dragged his once pristine stat line down to a more pedestrian looking .239 AVG/.786 OPS mark.

On the flip side, Bautista is on the opposite side of the spectrum as he put together another solid outing. After allowing at least one earned run in three of his first four appearances, Bautista has tossed five innings with no earned runs and eight strikeouts in his last four appearances.

The AFL All-Star Game will be broadcast on MLB Network and and streamed live on MLB.com. The game starts at 8 p.m.

Tigres de Aragua 3 – 2 Tiburones de la Guaira

Garcia entered the game during the bottom of the eighth inning as a pinch hitter for the struggling designated hitter Anthony Santander, who had struck out in each of his three earlier at-bats. Garcia was called on to try and break the 2-2 tie as there was a runner on third with two outs but failed to do so as he flied out to center field.

He would stay in the game as the new Designated Hitter and would get another chance to give the Tigres the lead in the bottom of the tenth. This time with one out and men on first and second, Garcia smashed a single to the right side that skimmed of the first baseman’s mitt and into right field. Garcia was denied the RBI though as the Tiburones second baseman hustled to retrieve the ball and made a superb throw to nail the runner trying to score from second base.
