10/27 Winter League Results: Gimenez Continues To Struggle

Arizona Fall League (AFL)

2B Andres Gimenez: 0-for-3, BB, 2 K, Caught Stealing(1)

The Saguaros pitchers once again held the Scorpions offense in check holding them to only five hits on the day. Andres Gimenez’s slump, in particular, has become quite troubling as he only has two hits in his last 23 ABs. His season stat line has fallen to .111 AVG/.627 OPS.

Mexican Pacific League (LMP)

C Juan Uriarte: 0-for-2, Throwing Error(1)

Uriarte got the start in the second game of the doubleheader but did not help his team much. His throwing error came on an attempted steal where the ball sailed into center field allowing the runner to advance to third base. Offensively, he is 0-for-5 to start the season, albeit with limited playing time.

Yaquis de Obregon 3 – 2 Naranjeros de Hermosillo

Bryce Brentz hasn’t been seen in a few days and now we know why. The Naranjeros announced that they have released him, Ryan Schimpf, and Reed Garrett, due to a “breach of contract” by all three of the imported American players. According to reports from Mexico, all three failed to show up for travel arrangements to Culiacán on Tuesday for their three-game series against the Tomateros. No word has been received in regards to why they did not report.

Venezuelan Winter League (LVBP)

Wuilmer Becerra hasn’t been seen in a few days as he’s actually been away from the team recovering from the flu. They expect him back by the time the next weekly roster submissions are due.

Terdoslavich led off the eighth inning with a line drive base hit to right field to break a 0-for-10 skid he had been on since his hitting streak ended. He would come around to score later in the inning on a sacrifice fly.
