Anthony DiComo of MLB.com answers fans’ questions regarding the Adrian Gonzalez signing and the Mets plan for the rest of the offseason.

MetsMinors.net writes about the top 26-30 prospects in the Mets system.

According to Jim Bowden of the Athletic, the Brewers are interested in signing Mike Moustakas only if they can trade their current third baseman, Travis Shaw. Bowden also reports that Mets are a contender for Shaw, who had a breakout season in 2017 hitting .273/.349/.513 with 31 home runs and 101 RBI’s.

Although the Adrian Gonzalez signing was meant to create a positive clubhouse culture, Mike Puma of the NY Post hears that Gonzalez can negatively affect clubhouses.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that former-Met Curtis Granderson has agreed to a one-year, $5 million deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. Throughout his time with the Mets, “Grandy” had won over many hearts with his excellent production and kindhearted nature.

The Pirates dealt longtime center fielder Andrew McCutchen to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for Bryan Reynolds and Kyle Crick.

Since Gerrit Cole was traded away, it’s been expected that the Pirates would pursue a rebuild. The Pirates remaining trade chips include second baseman Josh Harrison, who the Mets have shown interest in the past.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic also reported that the Pirates made another big move today, locking up closer Felipe Rivero to a four-year contract extension worth $22 million.

Yadier Molina announced that he will retire after the 2020 season.  “Yadi” has had a Hall-of-Fame career, overall hitting .284/.336/.403 and earning eight Gold Gloves.

Hall of Fame umpire Doug Harvey passed away Saturday at the age of 87. Harvey umpired for 30 years and was behind the plate for Kirk Gibson‘s pinch-hit home run in the 1988 World Series.

The 2006 AL MVP winner, Justin Morneau formally retired from baseball on Monday. He last appeared in the major leagues with the Minnesota Twins in 2015 and will now rejoin the team as a Special Assistant.

The Blue Jays decided that they will extend their netting on the first and third baselines for the 2018 season.
