A Last Ditch Effort and Olney Puts The ESP Into ESPN

WFAN is reporting that the Mets are trying to convince Billy Wagner to reconsider his stance on invoking his no-trade clause at this moment. They must really be hooked on whatever the Red Sox were offering… Either that or they just want to shed that $3.5 million dollars left on their obligation to Wagner. My guess is that it’s the latter… Jon Heyman of SI.com, also confirms that the Mets are making a last ditch effort [...]

Elbow Surgery Expected For Johan Santana

It saddens me to post this, but as was reported by Phil Hoops, Johan Santana will have an MRI on his ailing elbow on Tuesday. On Monday night, details started to emerge that Johan Santana and several other players are expecting the worst and that Santana will require season ending elbow surgery. Marty Noble reports on Mets.com, Mets players said Monday they expect Johan Santana will require surgery on his left elbow to repair whatever malady [...]

This Organization Is A Joke!

Yesterday it came out that Johan Santana would miss his next start and go see a doctor for his ailing pitching elbow.  Another day and another Met injury no longer surprises me anymore with this Mickey Mouse organization but what does surprise me is that the Mets knew about this and did NOTHING!  Johan Santana is one of the best pitchers in the game, he’s the ace of the embarrassing starting rotation for the Mets [...]

Mets Have Had Their “Phil”; Lose Again 6-2

The Mets played a Monday matinee at Citi Field today and Bobby Parnell pitched well…to every hitter not named Ryan Howard. Howard hit two home runs off Parnell to score the first five runs of the game for the Phillies.  That was all the offense they needed as they were able to defeat the Mets by the final score of 6-2.  The loss was the third straight for the Mets to the Phillies after winning [...]

Santana To Miss Scheduled Start Tomorrow Night

As if the news that Jeff Francoeur tore a ligament in his thumb after making a spectacular catch yesterday weren’t bad enough, Jerry Manuel just announced during the post game conference that Johan Santana has been experiencing “some discomfort” in his left pitching elbow. Due to this, Santana will not make his start tomorrow against the Florida Marlins. No word yet on who will make the start in his place. It is not time to panic [...]

Wagner’s Return Not Enough As Mets Fall Short 3-2

Billy Wagner returned to the Mets to make his first appearance in the major leagues in over a year, entering to a thunderous ovation from the Flushing Faithful.  However, the Citi Field premiere of Enter Sandman did not help send the Braves to Never Never Land.  Brian McCann pulled a long home run into the Pepsi Porch off Johan Santana in the fourth inning, which proved to be the difference maker, as the Braves held [...]

Wright HBP Overshadows Mets’ 5-4 Loss To Giants

What was supposed to be a pitcher’s duel between Johan Santana and Matt Cain turned into another story altogether, as David Wright was felled by a 94 MPH fastball thrown by Cain.  The Wright beaning was the most disturbing feature of today’s 5-4 loss to the Giants in 10 innings. Both Santana and Cain had cruised through the first three innings, putting up zeroes for both teams.  Then Luis Castillo led off the fourth inning [...]

Santana Trade Did Not Kill The Farm System

The last 2 years we have heard that when the Mets traded Carlos Gomez, Phil Humber, Deolis Guerra and Kevin Mulvey for Johan Santana, that the trade killed the farm system.  The Mets, and for some reason the media, told us this trade while it was necessary and important, completely decimated the farm system.  This trade slowed down the future of the Mets. Much like a lot of other things the Mets say, this is [...]

Santana Dominant As Mets Top Padres 5-1

The Mets were on the verge of getting swept in a four game series at Petco Park for the second straight year, but Johan Santana wasn’t about to let that happen. The Mets ace won his league leading 13th game of the season as he staked the Mets to a 5-1 victory over the San Diego Padres. Santana (13-8) was brilliant and just allowed five hits and the one run. He walked two, struck out four, and [...]

Mets Lose a Heartbreaker 12-7

If Mets fans were given a nickle for every heart breaking loss we’ve suffered beginning with Yadier Molina’s home run 3 years ago, we’d have enough to buy the ball club from the Wilpons. The Cardinals rallied in the ninth inning and Frankie Rodriguez blew his fourth save of the year to give the Red Birds the victory. Ankiel and Lugo got the inning started with back to back doubles to cut what was a 7-5 lead [...]

Santana Feasts On Rockie Road; Mets Win DH Opener 7-0

Johan Santana rebounded from his rough last outing against the Astros to pitch brilliantly today, as the Mets cruised to a 7-0 victory over the Rockies in game one of the day-night doubleheader. Six days after giving up a dozen hits to the Astros, Santana recorded a positive dozen as he picked up his 12th victory against eight losses.  ‘Han The Man pitched seven shutout innings, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out [...]
