Johan Santana has started two games this spring, Sunday against Miami and Tuesday against St. Louis. During these starts he has pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing 3 hits, walking 2, striking out 2, and allowing 1 unearned run. So what do we take from this? These were his first two starts since the 2010 season, and to me Johan looks like he’s already getting settled in and well on his way to returning to his regular […]
I am a new writer here, so I thought to start off, before talking Mets, I would introduce myself. I am a 19-year old college student. I have been a fan of the Mets my entire life, but sadly I have not been able to see them win it all. I have had the privilege to go to quite a few games, although I have only been able to go to one game at CitiField. […]
With Spring Training right around the corner it’s time to start to get into the baseball spirit. Even though it appears we are not going to be contending for a title this season, there is still plenty to be excited about. There is always the outside chance that we make it interesting and contend for the second wild card spot. For that to potentially happen things need to break right for us and players need to step […]
Update: According to Scott Merkin of MLB.com, if the White Sox cut payroll as expected, it’s likely that either John Danks or Mark Buehrle will not return in 2012. Looking at the free agent market for starting pitchers can be quite depressing. As of this writing it’s not known whether C.C. Sabathia will be a free agent. The next best free agent pitcher after C.C. assuming he opts-out is C.J. Wilson of the Texas Rangers and it’s widely believed Wilson […]
The New York Mets have struggled in recent years, only making two postseason appearances since 2000. Several large-ticket free agent signings led to the promise of better things to come, but several of those signings didn’t pan out according to plan (Pedro Martinez, Carlos Beltran and Jason Bay, to name a few). However, the Mets have had stars who have shined in the spotlight of the big city since the beginning of the 21st century, […]
In honor of R.A. Dickey’s near no-hitter last night, I decided to dig into our archives and pull out this gem – pitched by Ed Leyro on March 13, 2010. Enjoy reading it! Every young boy with aspirations of being a major league pitcher dreams of tossing a no-hitter. The thrill of recording out #27 before giving up hit #1 is one of the biggest joys in sports. However, this thrill has never been felt […]
The New York Mets have not given fans many reasons to watch them play this year. There have been moments where the team has looked great, but for the most part, the Mets have been a disappointment this season. As football season approaches, many fans may find no reasons to continue to follow the Mets. However, there are a number of reasons why fans should continue to keep up with the Mets into September. 1) […]
It has been reported that New York Mets pitcher Johan Santana had undergone an examination that revealed that he was suffering fatigue in his surgically repaired left shoulder. Santana will not resume throwing until his symptoms subside. However, Santana will continue to exercise and do some other baseball activities. Everything else during the exam was deemed to be normal by doctors at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Santana had made a rehab start on July […]
The New York Mets have been without their ace Johan Santana the entire season and the rotation has held their own, to say the least. With speculation surrounding a Santana return possibly in mid-August, which still remains a long shot at this point, many have wondered just who may be the odd man out in the rotation? Well all the speculation and rumors may have just been ended before they had a serious chance to […]
