In a little while the Mets will be hosting baseball tonight at Citi Field, going up against the American League Champions Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays will be starting Andy Sonnanstine. Sonnanstine is currently 5-6 with an ERA of 6.65 in 13 games started. Left handed batters are hitting .249 against him while right handed batters are hitting .290 against him. The Mets lineup for tonight is as follows: Alex Cora – SS Daniel Murphy […]
Okay, I wasn’t at Citi Field last night, but I could feel the energy in the park all the way from New York to Nashville. It was a playoff game in June, and the Mets continued their dominance of Philly when they absolutely had to have a win against them.
The Mets have announced their lineup for tonight’s game against the Phillies and it’s the same lineup that won the game for us last night. I’m not concerned about that, they won the game but there are two players who will be sitting on the bench tonight that do concern me: Daniel Murphy and Fernando Martinez who did not play last night either. I understand that both guys are lefties and thePhillies decided to put […]
After the Mets finish out the weekend series in DC on Sunday, their schedule until after the All Star break gets a heck of a lot tougher. Tuesday the Mets open a three game set at CitiField with the Phillies. Next weekend they head up to the Bronx. After the Bronx its three down in Baltimore against the Orioles. But from June 19th, until after July 19th the Mets play the following quality teams in […]
This is not a knee jerk reaction after last night’s horrible defeat. Last season after Willie Randolph was fired and Jerry Manuel took over I thought it was the right decision. As the Mets tried to make the playoffs last season I was really impressed with Jerry Manuel. When the Mets lost on the last day of the season I was hoping that Jerry would have been given a new contract for this season and […]
I’ve been giving Jerry Manuel a lot of heat for his in-game strategy lately. Most recently, on Saturday I felt he put the Mets into a poor position to win the game when he rested most of his regulars. That said, I need to give him his due for taking out J.J. Putz in the middle of the eighth inning on Sunday. After getting the leadoff batter Cody Ross out on a sharp line drive […]
After Gary Sheffield was nailed at the plate, at what he assumed was a home run by Daniel Murphy on Thursday night-assumed being the operative word, it might behoove all of the Mets to bust it on balls that carom off the quirky Citi Field walls. To be a home run, or not to be a home run. That is the question, that only television cameras can address. Yes, the Mets are five-for-five on the […]
I have to say that I was rather disappointed with this road trip. I know! I know! They lost one-fourth of their roster. Still, I feel the Mets should’ve really gotten on a winning streak here. They did well against the San Francisco Giants. I’ll take three out of four from them. They were up against a Dodgers team that was without Manny Ramirez. The Mets beat themselves during that series. There was no reason […]
Earlie today Mets manager Jerry Manuel was a guest on Mike Francesa’s radio show. There were some interesting things said by Manuel. Daniel Murphy: Manuel pretty much said that the Daniel Murphy outfield experiment is dead and over with. Murphy will have the next 4 games to prove himself a capable first baseman, otherwise Murph will not be an everyday player. Also sounds like Murphy will not be getting a lot of at bats against […]
