The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow?

fairorfoulthumb

Halfway through this season, there was a positive record that elated the faithful and did much to downplay that the 2012 Mets do not hit with power, do not have much speed, cannot hit lefty pitching, do not field particularly well and have just about the worst bullpen in the majors. Then the first month of the second half came along as a cruel slap of reality that made the hope go away, more than [...]

Mets 2012 Season Will Be A Near Total Loss

SAY WHAT

Its hard to fathom now, but the Mets had a realistic shot at the playoffs only one month ago.  Since then the team has taken a turn for the worst with a lot of poorly played baseball compounded by additional injuries.  In the process, the current situation has re-highlighted some glaring issues that the team’s successful first half had given us the luxury of forgetting about. First and foremost, the team’s pitching staff desperately needs [...]

Should The Mets Retire The Moneyball Project?

money-ball

The Mets currently have a front office in place that has earned them the nickname the “Moneyball Mets.” Mets G.M. Sandy Alderson was once Billy Beane’s mentor, and the Mets have also added a couple of other front office executives that once worked with Beane. As the Brady Bunch theme song goes – everyone sing along – that’s the way we became the Moneyball Mets. Does that mean the Mets are on pace to have the [...]

Putting An Individual Award Over The Team’s Best Interest?

terry collins and r.a. dickey

Remember all the Hater-Ade that gushed out of Mets Nation when Jose Reyes took himself out of his last game of the 2011 season following a bunt single, so that he could preserve his lead in the batting race and win a batting title? Some Mets fans were so turned off and fuming, that they decided to completely forget the other 1,049 games Jose Reyes played as a Met all because of that one last [...]

Over and Out: Tim Byrdak To Undergo Shoulder Surgery

Tim Byrdak

Tim Byrdak will undergo surgery to repair a torn anterior capsule in his left shoulder. His recovery and rehab could take anywhere between 12-18 months. This is the same injury that sidelined both Johan Santana and Chris Young. It took over a year for both of them to recover from their respective surgeries. Byrdak hopes that he could return during the second half of the 2013 season. The Mets’ lefty specialist was placed on the [...]
