Game Preview: Nationals vs Mets
The Mets and Nationals play game two tonight in Citi Field. Both teams will have starters making their first start of the season as the Mets will try out new pitcher Chris Capuano and the Nationals will try out their new pitcher in Tom Gorzelanny. Last night was a fairly frustrating game to watch as walking 9 batters just does not sit well. The Mets look to reverse that tonight and get some hits on [...]

Has Your Mets Outlook Changed In The Last Few Days?
Dont bother to answer the question I posed in the title, it’s sort of a trick question intended only to separate the die-hards from the band wagoners. If you believed in this team six or seven days ago, than that couldn’t have possibly changed so quickly and so early into a brand new season… right? Matt Cerrone of MetsBlog, said this morning that he saw three groups or types of Mets fans while at the game [...]

Walkathon ’11, Bats Silent, Mets Lose 6-2 To Nats
R.A. Dickey had ZERO control today, and that seemed to be a recurring theme for the Mets as they took a loss in their home opener to the Nationals, 6-2. Game Notes R.A. Dickey just couldn’t find it today. Dickey allowed three runs on six hits in five innings, walking five and striking out three. Dickey finished the game throwing 98 pitches, 53 for strikes but those numbers didn’t begin evening out until the 4th [...]

Quick Reaction: Ralph Kiner Only Met Who Could Throw A Strike
I’m sure one of my esteemed co-bloggers will have a recap up later, and I know a couple of them were at the game, but I had to jump in and express my utter disappointment in today’s home opening 6-2 loss to the Nationals. Hey, you can’t win them all, but this game was just a total bummer on many levels. Clutch Hitting – The Mets were 0-10 with runners in scoring position, and 0-6 with [...]

Happy Days Are Here Again
Today I envy anyone who is actually going to the ball park – it’s a great baseball day and there will be an excitement felt in this ball park that hasn’t been there before. Yes, the guys on the field – although it’s a mixed group, some veterans and some new guys – there is a sense of a new group, and new ways of doing things for this team. Sandy and Terry have certainly [...]

Pitching & Bats Vanish, Mets Lose 11-0
Jonathon Niese & the Mets pitching staff was mauled today, and the offense struggled to get a rhythm against Roy Halladay and the Mets lost the game 11-0. Game Notes Jonathon Niese had a bad outing today. Jonathon was hit, and hit consistently. He gave up six runs on eight hits in four innings, walking one and striking out seven. It wasn’t one big hit that seemed to get Jonathon in trouble, but all of [...]

Prior to returning home for the 50th Opening Day in team history, our guys were down in Philadelphia for the first head to competition of the season against Eastern Division rivals, the Phillies. Chris Young: Young pitched the series opener [...]
