I Want More Interleague Play
I grew up in an era when interleague play was a pipe dream, or a gleam in Bud Selig’s eye. But I always loved watching the World Series when a National League team would face off against an American League squad, and I also remember going to the Mayor’s Trophy Game, an exhibition between the Mets and Yankees each year that didn’t amount to much because both teams let their scrubs play. So I was [...]

Wright and Co. Run Wild As Mets Edge Indians 7-6
After his 2nd straight outing allowing 4 runs, the Mets offense picked up Johan Santana and won their 4th straight on the road from the Indians, 7-6. Game Recap Johan Santana went out today, and although not dominant, he controlled his damage to primarily the 2nd inning. Johan allowed 4 runs on 7 hits with 2 walks and only 1 strikeout in 7 innings. Although he was hittable and obviously pitching to contact, Johan’s fastball [...]

Is Trading Jon Niese For Cliff Lee A Good Move?
According to this recent post on MetsBlog.com, Matt Cerrone hears that the Mets and Mariners have been talking about a trade for Cliff Lee who is a free agent at the end of this season. Jon Niese seems to be the one player that the Mariners insist on in any potential deal for their ace involving the Mets. I’m not too sure how to feel about trading Jon Niese… On the one hand, looking at it [...]

Don’t Look Now, But The Mets Are Sizzling…
David Wright is on FIRE! He has now lifted his batting average to .293 to go with a .933 OPS. In his last 12 games, Wright is batting .426 with a 1.215 OPS. In that span he has stroked four home runs and picked [...]

6/15 Minor League Report! FULLER!
I gotta give a shoutout to Ken Davidoff, who I routinely bother/tweak on Twitter over his Met/Yankee prediction tweet(s). He’s very funny, and a very good sport about it. Is Yuniesky Maya The Answer?
Yuniesky Maya – does that name ring a bell? A little while back in the offseason, the Mets were looking to sign this guy, but there were a few problems with his Visa and that held him back. But there’s good news on that front, reported here : Enrique Rojas of ESPN.com says free-agent Cuban RHP Yuniesky Maya is finally free to sign a contract with a Major League team. (Link is in Spanish.) The [...]

Players Doing Their Part, Time For Fans And Management To Do Theirs
Today is June 15th and the NY Mets are currently 1 1/2 games out of first place in the division. Pre-season analysts regarded the 2010 Mets as a cellar team, questioning Omar Minaya’s lack of motivation during free agency and through the countless “On Paper” comparisons of this 2010 Mets team with the 2008 World Series Winning and 2009 World Series Losing Philadelphia Phillies. All in All, Mets fans were painted an uninspiring picture to [...]

MetsMerized Player Of The Week! (Week 10)
The Mets looked extremely sharp last week, posting a 5-1 record over their last 7 days. The off-day seemed to have no ill effect on the team and hopefully that trend will carry over into Cleveland as the Mets travel there to take on the Indians this week. It is a great day to be a Mets fan, with the Mets looking sharper than ever lately, and you have to give most of the credit [...]

Mets Need To Lock Up Mike Pelfrey Long Term
This season Pelfrey has been great there’s no denying that. This was an important season for the Mets and Mike Pelfrey after his disastrous 2009 season. This is the Mike Pelfrey we thought we would have last year after his 2008 season in which he won 13 games. In fact in 2008 the year that the bullpen killed the Mets you can argue that Pelf should have had at least 15 wins. The Mets expected [...]
