Mets Winning Streak Snapped, Fall 5-3 To Yankees

The Mets eight game winning streaked was snapped this afternoon as the Yankees beat up on Mike Pelfrey and handed the Mets a 5-3 loss in game two of the Subway series. Game Summary Mike Pelfrey did not continue his streak of great starts as he struggled early and often against the Yankees. He gave up five runs on seven hits and two homeruns in just the first four innings. Not the Pelfrey we are used [...]

Mets Renaissance Playing in the Bronx

Did any of us think this would be possible some six weeks back? We’ve won eight straight, 12 of 13, and we just shut out our favorite team to hate in the Bronx! What a game! What performances! Gamesmanship, strategy, decision-making, fundamentals…concepts we only could have wished for last year at this time. Mets fans make no mistake: your 2010 Mets are cut from a very different cloth. We seem to be doing almost everything [...]

Ranking The Potentially Available Pitchers

I decided last night that I am officially tired of Cliff Lee and Roy Oswalt. Both of their trade sagas and rumors remind me of the Roy Halladay rumors that basically occurred for two full seasons. Granted, Halladay finally made his way out of Toronto (and not t Boston where everybody “knew” he’d end up.) However, it didn’t happen until the off-season, and realistically how many big name starting pitchers get traded away during the [...]

NL East Report

Atlanta Braves: (39-28; Leader) The Braves took two out of three from the Tampa Bay Rays, and will play three against the Kansas City Royals. Kris Medlen vs. Zach Greinke is the matchup on Saturday. Philadelphia Phillies: (34-30; -3.5) The Phillies took two of three from the New York Yankees, and will face the Minnesota Twins. Come to think of it, I’ve always wanted to see how Mauer and Morneau hit at CPB. Florida Marlins: [...]

New York, New York: Rumble In The Bronx

It’s that time again – I happen to love the Subway Series, but I know there are others who don’t.  Anyway we’ve reached the weekend and it’s the second act of the Subway Series for 2010. The Mets go to the Big City for the games at the new Yankee Stadium on Friday night, and Saturday and Sunday afternoons.  The Mets are on a seven game winning streak, and the Yankees have just lost two [...]

2010 Mets: A Dynasty In The Making?

As Mets fans, we’ve had our share of anguish and heartbreak over the years. In a way, we wouldn’t be Mets fans if it were not that way — long periods of frustration followed by a solitary moment of extreme jubilation and ecstasy. I think the 2010 Mets are about to break the mold that has been the essential makeup for the Mets and their fans since their humble beginnings back in ’62 and first World Series in ’69. Nobody [...]

Mets Feeling Right At Home On The Road

All of a sudden the New York Mets know how to win on the road.  They are 6-0 on the current road trip, ten games over .500 and find themselves heading into the Bronx just a half a game behind the division leading Braves.  That’s right, the Braves. The Mets have gone 9-1 in their last 10 games, which includes games at home and on the road.  With a 24-10 record at home, and an [...]
