This Is What I Get
(Note: This is a very long article. It’s a lot of emotions compiled into something and not all of it makes perfect sense. So it’s fair game if you’d like to navigate away now.) So I’m a relatively young guy and I haven’t been around for many baseball seasons, and I’ve expressed that I haven’t seen either of the Mets WS runs. Although i’ll be the first to admit that the Mets are a daily [...]

Is K-Rod Next? Some Scouts Think So…
In his column Rumblings and Grumblings, Jayson Stark of ESPN raises the specter that Frankie Rodriguez might be concealing an injury. K-Rod not A-OK? Meanwhile, opposing scouts and executives have been buzzing that it wouldn’t shock them if Francisco Rodriguez added to the Mets’ DL total. Clearly, something is up with K-Rod. His first-pitch strike percentage (just 49.4 percent, according to fangraphs.com) is the lowest of any closer in baseball. And it’s been on a [...]

The Evil Empire Just Can’t Show Pity
This isn’t something I usually cover, but I just felt the need to put it out there. Since I can’t put this any better, i’ll just quote you from MLBtraderumors. Because it wouldn’t be a normal day without some bad news for the Mets, Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe reports on her Twitter account that Chris Carter, the more significant of the two players rumored to be headed to the Mets in exchange for [...]

The Fresh Prince Of…. Queens?
Each day the calendar comes closer and closer to the end of the season, the day many Mets fans are anxiously awaiting. As the season continues to wear on, I cannot help but be drawn to potential trade ideas for our beloved Mets to explore this offseason. Because- let’s face it, dreaming of “what could be” is a thousand times more interesting than the lineup of scrubs we place out there every night. While watching [...]

Bang! Zoom! Mets End Skid With 10-3 Win
The Mets put on an Amazin’ exhibition of power and offense for the two fans who showed up this afternoon at Land Shark Stadium to see the Mets beat the Marlins 10-3. Tim Redding started and allowed three homeruns, and yet somehow these Miracle Mets were able to pull off the upset victory and avoid a sweep in Miami. Redding was fortunate that all three bombs were of the solo variety. He ended up pitching [...]

Olney’s Seven Candidates for Mets GM
This morning, Buster Olney has an article for ESPN Insiders that details seven logical candidates to be the next General Manager of our NY Mets. Wait, I thought Wilpon said Minaya was staying? First, if you haven’t learned to not trust what this organization says, I think you’ve been watching and listening to the wrong people. Second, he never really said Minaya would be the General Manager. Here are the options according to Olney; #1 [...]

Mets Get Reeled In By The Marlins 5-3
The Mets lost to the Florida Marlins Wednesday night by a score of 5-3. Mike Pelfrey took the loss going 5.2 innings giving up 5 runs on 11 hits. Josh Johnson got the win for the Fish going 6 innings and giving up 3 runs on 9 hits. Pelfrey has always had trouble with the Marlins in his career and tonight he continued to have difficulties. I am in the camp that believes Pelfrey threw [...]

Welcome To [Insert Name Here] Stadium
As the Mets continue their three game series against the Marlins in Florida, I decided to do a little research of past Marlins/Dolphins stadiums. Dolphin Stadium, as most of us are use to calling the home of the Marlins and Dolphins, was originated in 1984 and was called that until 1987. Later in 1987 it was changed to the name Joe Robbie Stadium. In 1990, 50% of the stadium was bought out to bring baseball [...]

Livan Hernandez Is Released Then Sued
Just days after being released by the New York Mets, pitcher Livan Hernandez was handed a $16,000 lawsuit, TMZ reports. The lawsuit, which was filed by a man named Luis Vizcaino, states that Livan had used him as his personal driver throughout the 2009 season for when he was in New York. According to the suit, Hernandez owes Vizcaino $7,500 for his services as a driver. The suit also alleges that the pitcher totaled Vizcaino’s [...]

Latest Season Ending Injury May Actually Improve The Team
In the ongoing saga of the 2009 Mets, here is the latest chapter. The Mets report, Mets pitcher Oliver Perez today was examined by Mets Medical Director Dr. David Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. Upon the exam, Perez was diagnosed with patella tendon tendinosis in his right knee, which will require season-ending surgery. He is expected to fully recover and be ready for Spring Training. (Wanna bet?) Oliver Perez, 28, was [...]
