5/14 Minor League Report! THOLE, FAMILIA!
Binghamton 8, Trenton 7 Josh Thole BUSTED out of a slump in a HUGE way, going 5 for 5 and igniting the Mets decisive 3 run bottom of the 9th with a leadoff single. He would score on Josh Petersen’s game tying homer. Later in the 9th, Ruben Tejada hit a grounder to second, which was booted for an error, scoring DJ Wabick with the winning run. Mark Kiger, Thole, and Petersen had multi hit [...]

Memo to Jose Reyes: Grow Up Already!
Plain and simple, Jose’ Reyes has to grow up. He has to realize that he is one of two cornerstones for the Mets, and no longer a new-born colt prancing by his mother’s side. He needs to lead the Mets to the next level, not drag them into the abyss. Reyes will be 26 in June. Great leaders are ones that lead by example. His propensity to commit bonehead plays disqualifies him. When you try [...]

Injury Update: Putz Joins Delgado On Shelf With Bone Spur
According to Adam Rubin of the Daily News, both Carlos Delgado (hip) and J.J. Putz (elbow) have been diagnosed with ailments, but the Mets feel some rest will do the trick and maybe they both can avoid the DL. J.J. Putz is joining Carlos Delgado on the shelf, at least for a few games. Putz had an MRI on Wednesday that revealed inflammation in the back of the elbow, which has caused a bone spur, GM Omar [...]

Jerry Manuel Is Running Out Of Rope
I’m not ready to say it’s time to trade up on Jerry Manuel, but lets just say I’m not his biggest supporter lately. Has anyone else noticde how he barely gets a chuckle whenever he makes a little joke or delivers a sarcastic response to a reporter, during the post game pressers lately? Not long ago, he would bring the house down after each game, but not anymore. The comments on this site regarding Manuel, has [...]

A Series By The Bay
This weekend, the Mets fly to the other coast to take on the San Francisco Giants in a four game series by the bay. The Mets and Giants have the exact same record of 18-15 coming into this series. The Giants have been winning of late, taking six of their last ten games. At home, the Giants have a 12-5 record, the first time they have had a winning home record in some time now. [...]

Mets Notes: Delgado Conference Call, Putz on WFAN
The Mets get set for a big 10 game road trip starting tonight at SanFran, but they have a lot on their minds besides just winning the game. Carlos Delgado – The Mets have scheduled a 4 p.m. conference call for reporters with general manager Omar Minaya to discuss the health of first baseman Carlos Delgado. He’ll most likely head to the disabled list, which could mean the Mets might callup… Fernando Martinez – Martinez [...]

Lets Go After Diamondbacks LHP Doug Davis
Jonathon Niese has been optioned back to Triple-A Buffalo and will be replaced on the roster by Nelson Figueroa. Niese didn’t fare nearly as well in his second start as he did in his season debut. Yesterday, he allowed five runs and seven hits in 4.2 innings today against the Braves. It looks like the spot vacated by Oliver Perez is going to become an odd game of musical chairs. We should be used to it [...]

What a Difference the Calendar Makes
So after starting the season 9-12 in April and looking like a mistake-prone bunch of overpriced players who can’t hit or pitch in the clutch, our Mets have gone 9-2 in May and sit in first place today at 18-14….

Mets Lose Heartbreaker To Braves 8-7, But They Battled
Game Summary Back to back walk off wins would have been really nice, but alas it wasn’t meant to be. However, it wasn’t due to a lack of trying. The Mets lost a tough game to their division rival Atlanta Braves by a score of 8-7 in a 12 inning marathon. Despite the loss, it was a great game from two teams who refused to lose. Pitching Jon Niese started the game and quickly got into [...]
