The Mets could have Zack Wheeler back just in time for the trade deadline. According to Mike Puma of the NY Post, the Mets have set a tentative plan to start Zack Wheeler on Friday against the Pirates.

It was reported yesterday that Wheeler threw a bullpen session prior to Sunday’s game against the Giants.

The 29-year-old right hander was placed on the IL with a right shoulder impingement on July 15. A pending free agent after this season, Wheeler is expected to be traded.

In 119 innings pitched this season, Wheeler owns a 4.69 ERA with a 1.27 WHIP. He has struck out 130 batters, and has a 3.67 FIP.
