The Sporting News have released their 2016 National League All Star Team. The 2016 team was chosen by a panel of 27 NL executives before the postseason began.
Here they are:
C – Buster Posey, Giants
1B – Freddie Freeman, Braves
2B – Daniel Murphy, Nationals
SS – Corey Seager, Dodgers
3B – Kris Bryant, Cubs
OF – Christian Yelich, Marlins
OF – Yoenis Cespedes, Mets
OF – Starling Marte, Pirates
SP – Max Scherzer, Nationals
RP – Kenley Jansen, Dodgers
A deserving honor for Cespedes who has made the cut three consecutive seasons. Will he do it as a Met in 2017? That’s the big question this offseason for the New York Mets.
Mets receiving honorable mentions included Noah Syndergaard, Jeurys Familia and Addison Reed. Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy and Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant were among the first-time players selected.
Sporting News first began naming their MLB All-Star teams in 1925.
