For the second night in a row, and third time in the Mets first two games, the Washington Nationals hit a Mets player in the head/neck/shoulder area with a pitch.

Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor was removed from Friday nights game in the top of the fifth inning after Nationals pitcher Steve Cishek hit the shortstop in the face with a pitch.

Luis Guillorme entered to pinch run and play shortstop. Cishek was ejected.

Mets manager Buck Showalter was irate and rushed out of the dugout immediately after the incident causing the benches to clear.

Showalter, and the Mets players, anger was well warranted after Pete Alonso and James McCann were hit by Nationals relievers in the same area during Opening Day on Thursday.

Alonso was hit in the eighth inning and removed with the Mets up four runs. McCann remained in the game.

That’s four hit batsmen for the Mets in two nights. McCann was hit twice, once in the foot as well, on Thursday. Tomas Nido started in his place at catcher on Friday.

The Mets led the Nationals 4-3 in the fifth inning when Lindor left the game.
