The New York Mets announced on Thursday that third baseman David Wright is going to join the team in San Francisco to continue his rehab under supervision of the training staff.

They also announced that Wright will stay on the disabled list for now.

It was reported on Wednesday by Mike Puma of the New York Post that Wright will ultimately make the decision to return this season or not.

Wright went 0-for-5 on Wednesday night for the Las Vegas 51s though he played nine innings at third base including this nice barehanded play.

David Lennon of Newsday reports that Wright is scheduled to make $3.21 million in September, but if he doesn’t come of the DL the Mets will recoup $2.41 million through insurance.

Wright has played nine innings in back-to-back games now for Las Vegas. He is 7-for-41 during 12 rehab games this year between Las Vegas and St. Lucie.

The Mets captain hasn’t played in a major league game since May 27, 2016 against the Dodgers.
