Its great to be back at MMO. Did you guys miss me?

Now that we have had our yearly helping of turkey, stuffing, cranberries, a glass of wine, and shopping mall fights for a $2 waffle maker on Black Friday, its time to find out whats going to happen in the ever so unpleasant world of the New York Mets.  Yes, I used the word unpleasant.

In less than one week, the MLB Winter Meetings will commence in Dallas, Texas where the general managers, players, and agents will be in order to present themselves so that hopefully a deal can be reached.  I’m excited.  Actually, scratch that. I’m horrified and petrified at the same time.

The MLB rumor mill will literally light up when these meetings begin.  It will almost seem like the grand finale of fireworks going off during the July 4th holiday.  I’m panting and holding my breath just like Joe D was when the Mets were one out away from clinching the 2006 NL East division title.

It was reported that the Mets were still in “exploratory” mode in regards to their offseason plans right before Thanksgiving came along.  Now that we are all past that, what will the Mets do from here?  I wonder what their game plan for the Winter Meetings will be?  I certainly hope they won’t continue to be in “exploratory” mode and at some point move into “Action Mode”.

I believe we can all agree that Jose Reyes will be in Dallas meeting with teams including the Mets regarding his next contract. The whole Reyes aspect of the Winter Meetings has got me unnerved, but having to wait and see if the Mets make ANY moves at all during the Winter Meetings also has me on the edge.  Will the Mets go out and find the best closer on the market?  Or will they only focus on cheap players as a means to fill roster spots like the catcher, second base or even shortstop positions?  Who knows at this point.

We will just have to wait and see what happens.  I’ll be clinging onto my chair just waiting and hoping for some good news.  Will you?
