With the Nationals now officially re-signing Adam LaRoche, GM Mike Rizzo is speaking to 5-6 teams about a trade involving Mike Morse according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
The Mets are rumored to be one of those teams.
Morse hits rightys and leftys equally well batting .292/.343/.487 vs RHPs in his career with a .303/.357/.503 line vs LHPs. In 2012, he had a .291/.326/.478 slash vs RHPs, with a .290/.306/.449 line vs LHPs.
Morse, 30, will earn $7MM in 2013 before becoming a free agent after the season.

The Washington Nationals accomplished another of their primary offseason goals today and re-signed first baseman Adam LaRoche to a two-year contract that guarantees him $24 million, according to The Washington Post.
GM Mike Rizzo got his way as he was adamant that he would not give LaRoche more than a two-year deal right from the start. LaRoche pushed hard for a three-year commitment from the Nationals, but Rizzo refused to bid against himself and bet that LaRoche wouldn’t fare well in the open market after they strategically made him a qualifying offer that would cost other teams a first round pick.
LaRoche when he turned down their $13.3 million qualifying offer in November, and in fact will get less than that annually for the next two seasons.
