All the Winter Ball regular season games are now over with the playoffs already underway in every league other than the Venezuelan League. The Venezuelan league still has a 3-way tie-breaker to take care of before playoffs can start. Unfortunately, the team Wilmer Flores has been playing for, the Bravos de Margarita, finished in last place and didn’t qualify for the playoffs.
Lets look at the end of the year stats for the Mets who played in Winter Ball
Wilmer Flores: 90 AB, .322/.365/.556, 3 doubles, 6 home runs, 18 RBI, 3 stolen bases, He batted .370/.433/.593 with runners in scoring position. Flores committed 7 errors playing exclusively SS.
Cesar Puello: 51 AB, .353/.393/.667, 4 HR, 9 RBI, 5 SB. He is also 1-9 with 2 runs scored so far in the playoffs for Toros del Este
Xorge Carrillo: 205 AB, .273/.348/.507, 16 doubles, 9 HR, 33 RBI. Has gone 2-7 in the playoffs playing for Aguilas de Mexicali.
Jon Velasquez: 18.2 IP, 1.93 ERA, 10 saves, 1.011 WHIP. Didn’t pitch in Cangrejeros de Santurce’s first playoff game.
T.J. Rivera: 119 AB, .311/.351/.429, 11 doubles, 1 HR, 19 RBI. Did not play in Indios de Mayaguez first playoff game.
Johnny Monell: 108 AB, .259/.352/.361, 6 doubles, 1 HR, 16 RBI. Was 2-4 with a double batting cleanup for Criollos de Caguas in their first playoff game.
The also had two prospects added to rosters late in the season in the Puerto Rican Winter League.
Kyle Johnson was added to the Indios de Mayaguez team and has gone 4-16 with 2 doubles and 2 walks.
Adam Kolarek has looked good pitching 8.0 innings and giving up only one run while striking out seven for Gigantes de Carolina in the regular season. Also pitched a scoreless inning in their first playoff game.
