Jeurys Familia made his fourth appearance of the Dominican winter league playoffs on Sunday night and pitched a perfect eighth inning for the Gigantes del Cibao. He got a pop out by Hanley Ramirez followed by ground outs from Jason Rogers and Diory Hernandez.

The Tigres del Licey defeated the Gigantes del Cibao by a 2-1 score in twelves innings. With the loss, Gigantes fell to 3-6 in the first round of round robin Dominican playoffs.

For Familia, it was his second straight perfect outing and he hasn’t given up a hit or run over his last three appearances that spans three innings.

On Friday night, New York Mets closer Jeurys Familia made his third Dominican winter league appearance during the playoffs for the Gigantes del Cibao.

Familia entered the eighth inning with the Gigantes trailing the Aguilas Cibaenas 2-1 and held that score with a perfect inning. He struck out one, Brewers infielder Jonathan Villar to begin the inning.

It was the second straight scoreless appearance for Familia who struck out two in one inning on Monday night. He now has a 6.75 ERA in 2.2 innings in winter ball action this offseason.

Familia is expected to be limited to ten winter league innings as he prepares himself to pitch for the Dominican Republic team in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
