The White Sox have signed free-agent reliever J.J. Putz to a one-year, $3 million dollar contract, according to Noah Coslov from MLB.com.

The contract includes several incentives that could increase the value of the deal to as much as $10 million dollars.

The Mets acquired Putz from the Mariners last off season in a three-team trade with the Indians Indians for Aaron Heilman, Endy Chavez, Jason Vargas and minor leaguers Mike Carp, Maikel Cleto and Ezequiel Carrera. The Mets also received Jeremy Reed and Sean Green.

The Mets declined to pick up Putz’s option after an injury-plagued season in which he appeared in just 29 games and posted a 5.22 ERA.
