Kirk Nieuwenhuis just blasted his third home run of the game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday at Citi Field.

His third homer just cleared the foul pole in right field, a booming shot you knew was going out if it was fair.

His first two home runs came against D’Backs starter Rubby De La Rosa in the second and third innings.

Nieuwenhuis was recently recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas and entered the game hitting .106 with no homers and three RBI. He sure changed those numbers in a hurry.

Kirk was 3-for-38 with the Mets during his first stint this season before being designated for assignment by the Mets. But he is 3-for-3 today with three homers and four RBIs.

It’s a historic day for Nieuwenhuis and the team as no Mets player has ever hit three home runs at home in the 54 year history of the franchise.

He also becomes the 10th Met player to homer three times in a game joining Ike Davis, Carlos Beltran, Jose Reyes, Edgardo Alfonzo, Gary Carter, Darryl Strawberry, Claudel Washington, Dave Kingman, and Jim Hickman.

Congratulations to Kirk Nieuwenhuis!
