Reliever Vic Black, who has not pitched for the Mets at all so far this year due to a shoulder issue, has had another setback in his rehab recently, according to GM Sandy Alderson.

This time it’s the groin that’s been bothering Black and he’s been unavailable to pitch for Triple-A as a result.

Black has pitched for three different minor league levels during his rehab assignment and overall is 0-2 with a 5.25 ERA in 12 innings pitched. He’s had trouble with his velocity which has prevented him from joining the Mets bullpen.

Eric Goedell, who recently went on the DL Friday with an elbow strain, met with a doctor and is heading to Port St Lucie, Florida for rehab.

According to Alderson, the MRI “is inconclusive at this point” and that it would take another 7-10 days before a clearer call can be made on Goedell’s elbow.

Goedell has had multiple surgeries on the same elbow in the past, so it is difficult to determine what the exact problem is.

Before he got hurt, Goedell was one of the surprises for the Mets this season, sporting a 1.96 ERA in 22 appearances.
