Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen told reporters on Thursday from the GM Meetings in Arizona, that he’s made it clear to teams that Noah Syndergaard is no longer on the trading block.

Van Wagenen said publicly early in October that Syndergaard and reliever Edwin Diaz would be on the Mets in 2020, he’s now backing that up with Noah when other GMs come calling.

This comes after about a year and half of constant rumors of the Mets potentially dealing the talented starter.

Syndergaard, 27, had a career-worst 4.28 ERA over 197 2/3 innings, though he did still post a 3.60 FIP and 4.4 fWAR.

The right-hander becomes a free agent after the 2021 and is estimated to make $9.9 million in 2020 through arbitration.

Van Wagenen has mentioned on multiple occasions already this offseason the need to get creative in adding necessary pieces for the Mets to be contenders in 2020.
