Twins In Agreement With Addison Reed on Two-Year Pact

There will not be a reunion between Addison Reed and the New York Mets.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Minnesota Twins and the right-handed reliever are in agreement on a two-year deal worth just under $17 million.

Reed, 29, was acquired by the Mets in August of 2015 and solidified himself as a go-to arm in New York’s bullpen in parts of three seasons with the team. He was shipped off to Boston at the 2017 trade deadline for a trio of pitching prospects including Jamie Callahan, who debuted with the Mets in September as well as flame throwing prospect Gerson Bautista.

Between the Mets and Red Sox in 2017, Reed registered a 2.84 ERA, 3.67 FIP, 1.053 WHIP and 154 ERA+ over 77 appearances (76 innings pitched).

If the deal is in fact for the reported amount, he will only be making $3 million more than Anthony Swarzak, who the Mets signed during the Winter Meetings.

The deal is pending a physical.
