Trevor May on Saturday threw his first bullpen session in two months, Deesha Thosar of NY Daily News reported.

She added that May received good news this week after another test on his triceps stress reaction, which cleared him to throw. He reportedly threw just fastballs with his velocity sitting around 92 mph.

Thosar said May expects to be back in the bullpen around the end of July.

He hasn’t pitched in a major league game for the Mets since May 2. He gave up eight runs in 8 1/3 innings in his eight appearances this season, though he was very likely pitching through pain in most if not all of them.

May was solid piece in the bullpen just a year ago, when he posted a 3.59 ERA across 68 outings. He struck out 83 batters in 62 2/3 innings, good for an 11.9 K/9.

Previously, May had spent his entire career with the Twins. Over 291 appearances (26 starts) and 387 major league innings, he owns a 4.40 ERA,  10.6 K/9 and 3.0 BB/9. The 32-year-old should be a solid help upon his return, adding to a bullpen that has been graced with a dominant Edwin Diaz but could always use more depth.
