Mets catcher Tomas Nido exited Game 1 of Monday’s doubleheader against the Braves early in the bottom of the fifth inning with an apparent wrist injury after being struck by a 93 mph sinker by Shane Greene.

This led to James McCann catching the final two innings and remain the catcher for Game 2 as well while Nido is evaluated (although they were likely to split the twin bill anyway).

Nido last caught on June 19 in the doubleheader against Washington.

Should Nido have to be placed on the IL, the Mets will be forced to call up another catcher as McCann is the only other backstop on the Mets’ active roster. Patrick Mazeika is on the 40-man roster and is currently playing with Triple-A Syracuse.
