The New York Mets announced that third baseman Todd Frazier has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain.

Frazier, 32, has been dealing with the issue for about three weeks, manager Mickey Callaway said. “Frazier felt it last night while running in to field a grounder.”

The veteran third baseman is batting .237 for the season with a .357 on-base percentage and .757 OPS with five home runs and 21 RBI in 140 plate appearances.

Jose Reyes is playing third base on Tuesday night against the Cincinnati Reds. The Mets will likely drop a catcher, currently have three on active roster with addition of Devin Mesoraco, to add an infielder after tonight.

Triple-A infielders Luis Guillorme, Gavin Cecchini and Phillip Evans are on the 40-man roster.
