Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports Washington Nationals first base coach Tim Bogar is no longer going to receive a third interview, and as a result, he is no longer under consideration for the Mets managerial position.

This news comes as a surprise as Bogar had reportedly done very well in his two interviews. With Bogar not getting this third interview, it would appear his availability has not been a factor in the timing of the process of hiring a new manager.

With Bogar out of consideration, there are now four known finalists: Yankees special assistant Carlos Beltran, Brewers bench coach Pat Murphy, ESPN’s Eduardo Perez, and Brewers bench coach Derek Shelton.

As reported by Sherman, this third round of interviews has included a one-on-one discussion with Fred Wilpon. The previous two rounds had included general manager Brodie Van Wagenen and COO Jeff Wilpon.

Hopefully, now that the final four candidates are meeting with Fred Wilpon, the managerial search is coming to end with a replacement for Mickey Callaway being named in the not too disaster future.
