I already ranted about this in last night’s game recap, but it bears repeating…

In last night’s 8-4 win over the Reds, Frank Francisco nearly blew the game with yet another abysmal performance in the ninth inning, allowing three runs on a walk and four hits including a mammoth home run while registering only two outs. Jon Rauch was brought in to get the last out for the second time in five games.

“I’m terrible right now. I’m getting beat with everything,” Francisco said after the game. “It’s a struggle right now. In the good moment, everyone is good, but it’s in the struggle and how we come back. I’m going to keep fighting.”

As I said last night, the Francisco contract has been a colossal failure. Period.

He is still owed another $6.5 million for next season and eats up almost half of the entire payroll budget in the bullpen.
