You’ve probably seen the ads and previews already, but just in case you haven’t here’s something you probably don’t want to miss. MLB Network will be featuring Mets manager Terry Collins in an upcoming episode of MLB Network Presents hosted by Bob Costas. The hour-long special entitled “Terry Collins: A Life in Baseball” will air at 9:00 PM on January 12.
A press release by MLB Network says the show will feature Collins discussing his baseball journey, from never making it to the Major Leagues as a player to guiding the Mets to last year’s World Series, including his decision to let starting pitcher Matt Harvey begin the ninth inning of Game Five.
MLB Network’s Tom Verducci spent the day with Collins at the Historic Dodgertown in Vero Beach, Florida, where Collins spent 15 years of his career as part of the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon, three-time World Series winner Tony LaRussa and 1997 World Series winner Jim Leyland all discuss their unique experiences with Collins and his evolution as a manager in the show.

Three days after the Mets’ ended their incredible and exciting season with a stinging loss to Kansas City in the World Series, the Mets rewarded Collins with a two-year extension to manage the team through 2017.
Collins, the oldest manager in baseball at 66, guided the Mets to a 90-72 record and won the NL East by seven games over the heavily favored Washington Nationals. The team went on to reach the World Series for the first time since 2000.
