mets win Cespedes walker Cabrera

Just when you thought the Mets were pulling everyone back “in” with winning 6 of 7, they throw up a stinker against the Phillies. I question whether I should change my stance and consider the Mets a “real” Wild Card contender.

Sandy Alderson was brought on in 2010 to rebuild the farm system and create a sustainable winning environment. Many credited Omar Minaya for building the core of the 2015 World Series team. It’s now time to see if Alderson signees such as Gsellman, Montero and Lugo can lift the team when they need it. I talk about this and how tomorrow’s start is really Rafael Montero’s last chance at redemption in a Mets uniform.

Finally, we discuss David Cone’s comments to Keith Hernandez about how rest helped him during his playing days and whether deGrom, Syndergaard and Matz can get a bump from this for the final six weeks of the season. Am I underestimating the value of resting the young arms in a pennant race?
