On Monday, a successful sim game outing brought with it news that Taijuan Walker could rejoin the Mets’ rotation this weekend. Walker has been sidelined since April 11th when he exited a start versus Philadelphia after feeling soreness in his throwing shoulder. Immediately following the game, the right-hander minimized the injury saying, “It’s already feeling better now, but going to go for an MRI tomorrow to see what we’re dealing with.”

David Peterson was optioned to the minors, so Walker will regain his turn when it comes up again against the same Phillies he faced when his shoulder barked, this time at Citi Field. In that lone appearance of 2022, he struck out four of the six Philly hitters he faced. It is likely the Mets will proceed with kid-gloves on the oft-injured righty, but infusing his talent into an already talented group is great news.

Here is what Walker had to say after Monday’s sim game, according to SNY.
