Taijuan Walker left Tuesday’s game with back spasms, according to the team. That sounds relatively minor, but we likely won’t know more about his status for his next start (scheduled Sunday) until a day or two from now.

A night after Carlos Carrasco left his start after just two innings, Taijuan Walker left his start after the same amount of time. There’s no clear reason why Walker left his two innings.

The 30-year-old didn’t allow a run but walked two and allowed a hit. He didn’t have pinpoint control and threw 32 pitches (just 17 strikes) over his two frames. He left a start after just an inning-plus his last time out against the Braves on August 5.

Walker has had minor injuries a couple of times this season, but he landed on the injured list just once for two weeks in April. The Mets can ill afford to lose another starter for a stretch of time. Carrasco will be out three-to-four weeks with his low-grade oblique strain. The Mets have also had Luis Guillorme and Eduardo Escobar suffer injuries over the last couple days.

We’ll keep the post updated when the Mets announce why he left his start.
