T.J. Rivera‘s rehab hit a road bump last night when he was removed for the Las Vegas 51s game against Albuquerque after five innings.

After going 0-for-3 and playing third base, manager Tony DeFrancesco said Rivera’s arm “was not feeling the way it should have.”

This comes after Rivera underwent Tommy John surgery in 2017 to repare a partially torn UCL. He began his rehab with Port St. Lucie earlier in the week, and went through without any pain.

Rivera was scheduled to play 10 games with Las Vegas and then take the next step, whether that is remaining with Las Vegas or returning to the Mets.

DeFrancesco said the team plans on “reevaluating him tomorrow, see what the plan is.”

The Mets have already seen one player removed from a rehab assignment with discomfort in the last month, being Yoenis Cespedes, who is just restarting baseball activities.

Rivera has started his rehab going 4-for-22 in six games between Port St. Lucie and Las Vegas, playing both second and third base.
