The Mets will not shuffle their rotation ahead of their home opener on Thursday against the Washington Nationals: Noah Syndergaard will get the ball as scheduled.

Syndergaard, 26, started his first game of the year on Saturday to mixed results. The right-hander yielded four runs on seven hits in six innings. He struck out seven and did not surrender a walk.

The Texas native has been in the public eye frequently since Spring Training, criticizing the team’s travel plans prior to Opening Day and telling the team to extend Jacob deGrom.

Syndergaard will reportedly fly home on Wednesday ahead of the home opener. According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, “He is concerned his roommate Gsellman won’t get into the apartment because neither has their keys yet and Syndergaard says he sure as hell won’t get up at 3 a.m. to open the door.”

After Syndergaard for the series against Washington, it looks as though he will be followed by Zack Wheeler and Steven Matz to close out the series.

Last season, Syndergaard went 13-4 with a 3.03 ERA, 2.80 FIP and 1.212 WHIP in 25 starts.
