New York Mets’ right-hander Noah Syndergaard toed the rubber for Short-A Brooklyn on Sunday, tossing five innings of one-run ball while striking out seven.

In his first inning of work, Syndergaard yielded a walk and a base hit, and surrendered one run off a wild pitch. However, he struck out one in the frame.

The next inning, the flamethrower induced a ground ball to first for an easy out, followed by a routine ground ball to short, which was thrown high to first, leading the Yankees to put an early baserunner on.

The runner, Eduardo Torrealba, stole second on Syndergaard, but stayed put as the 25-year-old stranded him on second after a can of corn to right and an easy groundout to second.

The third was flawless for Syndergaard, who got the first batter of the frame, Alex Junior to strike out the frame on a ball away, and caught catcher Josh Breaux looking to the end the inning.

In the fourth, Syndergaard caught Yankees clean up hitter Andres Chapparo looking by pulling the string on him.

He allowed a smoker up the middle from the next batter Frederick Cuevas, who promptly stole second.

Cuevas advanced to third on a strikeout that kicked away from catcher Nick Meyer that allowed right-fielder Juan Soto to reach first.

However, Syndergaard got out of the frame on a line out double play to second.

The fifth, Syndergaard’s last inning, was another clean one, as he punched out two and kept the Yankees off the board.
